Booker T. Washington said . . .

"There is another class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs -- partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs....There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who do not want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public."

Could he possibly have had premonitions about people such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

Happy Father's Day

I hope you have a GREAT Father's Day. As someone once said, "One father is worth more than 100 school masters." Tell your dad you love him.

I'm off to work.

Got a temp job. Yeah, rah. Might even turn into full time.

Well, it wasn't too bad.

The movie was good, and as expected, pretty 'dark'. Lots of swordplay, lots of body parts. It seems to have handily made the transition between III and IV. I wouldn't take 'younglings' to see it, though.

After that, we had a late lunch at a local Chinese Resturant. Jessica likes squid cooked via Mongolian Barbeque.

(Yep, that's the eye in the last picture).

Off to see Star Wars, ROTS

We're heading out to see Star Wars, Revenge of the Sith. I hope it's as good as people have said it is. We will be seeing it at the Kerasote Showplace 12 at Washington Square.

He's feeling better.

Bronze is feeling better. He went to work feeling pretty good. He's getting a brake job and new tires on his car, today (both are sorely needed).

We got most of the yard mowed yesterday. The drive belt is stretched out pretty badly, and keeps slipping off, but we were still able to get most of it done. Now, all we have to do is find someone to put a new belt on.

I have a job offer. We'll see how that works out.
