Booker T. Washington said . . .

"There is another class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs -- partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs....There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who do not want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public."

Could he possibly have had premonitions about people such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

A great day!

We had a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving day. Shirley and Jessica cooked, and it was wonderful. Bronze and Angela joined us for dinner, after spending the early part of the day with her family.

We had turkey (of course), and I couldn't cut it, as it simply fell off the bone when I tried. There were homemade sourdough rolls, cranberry salad (one of Jessica's favorites), pumpkin pie squares, mash potatoes, gravy, and magic cookie bars. Talk about being stuffed!!

Bronze bought War of the Worlds, and we watched it while we ate. It's a pretty good movie, but doesn't quite compare to the old movie. Still, it's worth seeing a few times.

Shirley is on vacation starting today. I felt pretty lousy all day; awoke with a headache and upset stomach, aching muscles. But, we managed to make it to church. We went to one we had not been to before, with my mom and dad. It was a nice little church, but I figure I must not have been feeling well enough to really enjoy it.

I spent most of the rest of the day trying to recover. I slept alot; ate a little bit of food. The food made me feel better, but I didn't want to eat it because I felt like it would make me sick.

Jessica got some new earrings. They are very similar to mine ... a loop with two silver feathers.

A storm . . .

It's 0250 (that's 2:50am for those who need civilian time), and we have a fantastic storm moving through. The wind is blowing fiercly, and the rain is pounding the roof. We are even having a little hail. If it weren't for the noise, it would be great sleeping weather.
