Booker T. Washington said . . .

"There is another class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs -- partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs....There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who do not want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public."

Could he possibly have had premonitions about people such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

Guest book problems

For some reason, my guestbook got 'lost'. If you had signed it, before, please sign it, again. Thanks!

First podcast?

I dunno. It's just an audio file, as far as I know. Maybe I'll figure out how to get it into a podcast feed. We'll see.

Oh, by the way, it's just a 15 second test clip, so it's not really worth listening to.

My grandfather died

My maternal grandfather died this morning. I'm not exactly sure what the circumstances were, but I'm pretty sure he died at his home. He was in pretty good health, so this was a bit unexpected. The funeral will be Monday or Tuesday. We will be going down for at least the viewing, and possibly the funeral.

My maternal grandmother is still living. My paternal grandparents have already passed on. My dad's father died when I was very young. His mother died a few years ago.

Indy's first BIG snow of the season

Yesterday, we got 6" in less than 3 hours. We had some snow earlier in January, but it was nothing like this.
Jessica shot a bit of video while we were out driving around in it. You can see it here, if you wish.
It's my very first YouTube video upload. It's only about 40 seconds long.
